There are recognition awards presented each year to deserving certified members of our organization. Some are administered and delivered by the Corporation des thérapeutes du sport du Québec. These are as follow:

Other awards are presented to our candidates members by the Concordia University Exercise Science Department. The descriptions of the awards are as follows:

This award is given to certified athletic therapists who are trailblazers, role models and continued supporters of the field of athletic therapy and its growth throughout Quebec.

Hall of Fame Award – Builder Category

This award recognizes an individual who has had a significant impact on the growth and development of Athletic Therapy profession in Quebec. Be it through breaking down barriers, developing new career paths, professional guidelines or best practices for the profession on a grand scale.

Requirements :

  • Never a member of the CTSQ ;
  • Directly contributed to the foundation and continuing development of the field of Athletic Therapy

CTSQ Special Recognition Award

This award is given to deserving members of the Quebec community, who are not members of the CTSQ, that have supported, promoted and assisted the growth and proliferation of the field of Athletic Therapy in Quebec.  The board of the directors of the CTSQ is responsible for selecting the recipient. Nominations may be sent to the CTSQ, direction@ctsq.qc.ca. Deadline is April 1st.

Nominations must include a short summary detailing the specific requirements listed below for the nominee, with the nominator’s full name and contact info (phone number and email).

Requirements :

  • Must not be a member of the CTSQ or CATA
  • Have steadily supported the efforts of the CTSQ and the profession of Athletic Therapy in Quebec

CTSQ Outstanding Internship Supervisor Award

This award is given to a CTSQ member who, as an internship provider has given tirelessly of themselves to provide time, support, and guidance to CTSQ certification members on their quest to becoming successful Certified Athletic Therapists.

Their efforts provide a strong professional base and future for the field of Athletic Therapy in Quebec.  This monetary award of $500.00 is meant to acknowledge their efforts.

The board of the directors of the CTSQ is responsible for selecting the recipient.  Nominations may be sent to the CTSQ, direction@ctsq.qc.ca. Deadline is April 1st.

Concordia University Awards for Certification Candidates

Athletic Therapy Award of Excellence

The Athletic Therapy Award of Excellence was created in 2002 in order to recognize and reward excellence in athletic therapy at Concordia University. This award is open to outstanding full-time students studying in the Athletic Therapy specialization, who have completed at least two years of full-time studies.

Dave Campbell Athletic Therapy Award of Distinction

This award, established in 2011 by J.D. and Andrea Miller, and named in honour of Concordia alumnus and Concordia Physio Sport co-founder Dave Campbell, is intended to recognise all around student excellence in Athletic Therapy at Concordia University. Dave Campbell, a Certified Athletic Therapist and Osteopath, is widely recognized for his leadership over the past 25 years in the clinical pursuit of athletic therapy excellence and the professional development of young athletic therapists.

Gary Cummings Athletic Therapy Award of Distinction

Following an injury in 2005, Danny Minogue experienced first-hand the benefits of athletic therapy. In recognition and appreciation of the professional treatment that he received in the course of his recovery, in 2011 he established this award in honour of Gary Cummings, Concordia Physio Sport co-founder, Certified Athletic Therapist, Osteopath, and trainer of the 2008 Concordia University Sports Hall of Fame Inductee 1973-74 Sir George Williams University Mens’ Basketball Team.

David H. Jones Memorial Award

David H. Jones was an Athletic Therapy Laboratory Instructor in the Department of Exercise Science at Concordia University for more than 20 years who passed away suddenly in 2014. He was a steadfast supporter of the discipline of Athletic Therapy and, over the period of many years, was heavily involved in the national certification of hundreds of students. David worked as an Athletic Therapist with various professional sports teams, and at numerous international and national sporting games and events. David was an integral part of the team that launched the PERFORM Centre at the University, and at the time he passed away was in the final stages of his Ph.D. dissertation. He was extremely dedicated to his students and was a beloved husband, father, colleague and friend. This award was established in 2015 by his family and friends in honour and tribute to David’s heartfelt commitment and contribution to the discipline of Athletic Therapy, the Department of Exercise Science, and its graduates.

The David H. Jones Memorial Scholarship in Athletic Therapy is intended to encourage and reward students currently enrolled in the Specialization in Athletic Therapy at the University, who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the discipline and who are actively pursuing a career in the field.
