As of now, CTSQ&#8217;s members can authorize full return-to-play to patients with a concussion or mTBI diagnosis. This initiative aims to facilitate the access to a competent professional in an already overwhelmed healthcare system.<\/p>\n<p>Please find here under a summary of the activity. All details and official information are to be found in the joint announcement itself, available lower in this page, or directly on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmq.org\/fr\/actualites\/therapeutes-sport-tccl-cc\">CMQ&#8217;s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"color: #009fdf;\"><strong>Conditions of Practice<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In order to authorize a gradual and full return-to-play, athletic therapists must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 18px;\">\u2022<\/span> have an official concussion or mTBI medical diagnosis from a doctor or specialized nurse practitioner (SNP);\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><span style=\"color: #009fdf;\">\u03bf<\/span> the diagnosis must be obtained to rule out more severe conditions;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 18px;\">\u2022<\/span> have a practice profile that regularly exposes them to patients with mTBI or CC;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 18px;\">\u2022<\/span>\u00a0take training in TBI\/CC identification and management at least every four years;\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 15px;\"><span style=\"color: #009fdf;\">\u03bf<\/span> in the next few months, the CTSQ will look at available courses to determine which ones would be recommended with regards to having a sufficient level of knowledge on the field to help athletic therapists choose their continuing education opportunities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"color: #009fdf;\"><strong>Need for Medical Clearance<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, patients followed by an athletic therapist will have to get medical clearance before full return to activity if there is:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"line-height: 1.1;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 20px;\"><strong>\u21d2<\/strong><\/span> presence of persistent symptoms;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 20px;\"><strong>\u21d2<\/strong><\/span> presence of red flags at any moment following the trauma;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 20px;\"><strong>\u21d2<\/strong><\/span> abnormal evolution of symptoms in the hours or days following the initial diagnosis;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 20px;\"><strong>\u21d2<\/strong><\/span> presence of a comorbidity (i.e., ADD\/ADHD);<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 20px;\"><strong>\u21d2<\/strong><\/span> presence of a concussion in the previous year;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 20px;\"><strong>\u21d2<\/strong><\/span> presence of two or more concussions in their medical history.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"color: #009fdf;\"><strong>Patient Follow-Up<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As we always aim for high-quality professional services to our patients, athletic therapists who wish to practise this new activity must follow rigorous norms of practice. Amongst other things, the athletic therapist must:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"line-height: 1.25;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf; font-size: 20px;\"><strong>\u2022<\/strong><\/span> follow recent well-accepted return-to-activity protocols;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #009fdf;
