text-align: justify;\">We recently shared with you the <em>Avis d\u2019opportunit\u00e9 concernant l\u2019encadrement de l\u2019exercice de la th\u00e9rapie du sport au Qu\u00e9bec<\/em>. I would first like to point out that this document is the result of the work of several athletic therapists, as well as the CTSQ, over the past few years. Efforts to gain recognition for the profession began nearly 25 years ago. I would therefore like to salute all those who, over time, have contributed to advancing our cause and enabled us to get to where we are today. I would also like to give special recognition to the remarkable efforts of Heather McCoy, Pierre Lizotte, Eric Grenier-Denis and Philippe Fait, who have played a key role in advancing this publication.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 2em; text-align: justify;\">With regard to the notice, the document represents the recommendation of the <em>Office des professions du Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> on the scope of practice of athletic therapy. It officially recommends regulating the profession by integrating athletic therapists into the <em>Ordre professionnel de la physioth\u00e9rapie du Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> (OPPQ), with a unique scope of practice. Some members have requested a summary of the document, but we have chosen not to provide one. On the one hand, the recommendations, which constitute a summary of sorts, can be found on pages 43 and 44. Furthermore, we believe that taking the time to read a document that is so important for the future of our profession is a professional responsibility that everyone should uphold. Above all, this will help to fully understand the process and rationale behind the recommendations made by the <em>Office des professions du Qu\u00e9bec<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: 2em; text-align: justify;\">In addition, we have received several questions and comments from our members. After several years of work, we took a moment to reflect upon this process, and we came to two main conclusions. First, we must stay ahead of developments in the profession by anticipating changes and needs in our field. Second, having gained experience through this first request, we must continue in the same vein so as not to lose this new expertise. This is how the Professional Development Committee was born.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This committee is composed initially of members of the Corporation and representatives of the athletic therapy programs. One thing that stood out of our review was that training and education are two very important elements in the process of applying for new professional activities. It&#8217;s a bit of a \u2018chicken or the egg\u2019 dilemma, but the current system seems to favour training prior to the application, hence the importance of involving the programs first and foremost.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Also, one of the committee&#8217;s mandates is to ensure that the practice of athletic therapists remains a unique profile in the professional landscape of Qu\u00e9bec. One of the key elements of the application process for new professional activities analyzes this principle. The professional system wants to ensure that the various professions remain relevant to society&#8217;s needs while following their distinct pathway. We do not want to resemble another profession in a related field, but rather to differentiate ourselves. One of the distinctive features of athletic therapy is that we are primarily front-line practitioners. First, it is important to note that the Corporation adopted <a href=\"https:\/\/ctsq.qc.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/2024-05-Reglement-tenue-de-dossier.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">regulations on charting<\/a> in May 2024, based on Quebec&#8217;s standards of practice. The use of information technology was analyzed at that time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 13px; padding-left: 30px; padding-right: 30px;\"><em>2. However, even though the regulation allows the use of AI, certain considerations must be taken into account.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 2em; padding-bottom: 0px;\"><strong>1. Consent<\/strong><br \/>\nSince AI applications for charting use voice recordings of both the professional and the patient, it is imperative to obtain patient consent before proceeding. At the beginning of an appointment, the athletic therapist must mention the use of an AI app so that the patient can give their free and clear consent. In the event of a refusal, the AI app must not be used, and the therapist must respect the decision.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 2em;\"><strong>2. Reviewing<\/strong><br \/>\nAlthough AI tools are becoming increasingly powerful, athletic therapists who use them must review the notes produced by the software. It is important to remember that, in the event of a dispute, the patient&#8217;s file becomes an essential element and will be virtually undeniable. However, if one or more errors are found, the therapist will lose all credibility and professional integrity. It is therefore essential to review notes taken by AI with as much care as notes written by hand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; text-indent: 2em; padding-bottom: 0px;\"><strong>3.
