The same techniques used by a certified athletic therapist help him to treat effectively the musculoskeletal afflictions of Quebec&#8217;s active population.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;8609&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; el_class=&#8221;img_ctsqleft&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">The domains\u00a0of a certified athletic therapist<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are three main areas of patient care and service that an Athletic Therapist may provide:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list_ctsq\">\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries for a rapid return to\u00a0activity;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Recognition, evaluation, and emergency care of acute, urgent injuries;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\u00a0<strong>Prevention of musculoskeletal injury through conditioning and other techniques such as prophylactic support.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<strong>Athletic Therapy in Quebec<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Quebec is home to over 440 certified athletic therapists of which 25% have between 5 and 10 years of experience and 40% have been practicing in the field for more than 10 years. By definition, the latter are considered experts in their field, and makes Quebec a significant hub of expertise in the area.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Certified athletic therapists often bolster their studies with several additional certifications. Therefore, 15% are trained in osteopathy, 10% in massage therapy and nearly 11% have their CSCS certification (<em>Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists<\/em>) from the <em>National Strength and Conditioning Association (<\/em>NSCA).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fields of work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In general, athletic therapists\u2019 main stream of practice is concentrated in private-sector clinics (42%) and on sports teams (39.5%).
