We would like to remind everyone of the content of the message sent on June 11. Following consultation with the Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ), the provisional certification granted by CATA to certain individuals is not a valid title in Québec under the Regulation respecting certain professional activities that may be engaged in by an athletic therapist. This applies to everyone, whether or not they are members of the CTSQ.

Contravening the authorization regulations is considered as practising medicine illegally and is therefore liable to sanction. The CATA has been made aware of the situation and has even contacted the CMQ, but we are still awaiting a reaction from them.

On last May 2, we held a gathering to celebrate athletic therapy in Québec. For those of you who attended, please take a moment to complete this survey to help us assess the success of the proposed formula.

This year, the Corporation sponsored the poster competition for the School of Health’s annual conference, which was held on Thursday, May 22, 2025. The event was a great success, with close to 90 student posters submitted.

Our sponsorship was used to present an award to Owen Soontjens for his presentation entitled ‘From Takeoff to Touchdown: Achilles Tendon Stiffness and Its Links to Leg Preference, Athletic Performance, Range of Motion, and Injury in University Basketball.’.

For all students who wrote the CATA exam in May, we remind you that your request for your status change must be done by August 16th. All information was sent out by e-mail on June 27.

We would also like to remind all student members that you cannot keep your ‘student’ membership after graduation, so make sure you make your change in time.

On June 19, Laurie-Ann Corbin-Berrigan represented the CTSQ at the 1st International Congress on Safe Sport Research. In teams with participants from various organizations (universities, sports associations, research centres), they worked on issues related to safe sport in Québec. The results of their work will be written up in the form of a report and sent to the ministerial bodies concerned.
