Overview
Established in 1836 in Quebec, Canada, Bishop’s College School (BCS) is an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and certificates. The Position
Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Athletic Therapist is responsible for the assessment and rehabilitation of injuries for the student population at BCS, as well as education and consultation on various health-related topics (strength and conditioning, nutrition, proper use of sports equipment, concussion signs, and symptoms, injury prevention, etc.).

The successful candidate will use contemporary rehabilitative techniques, therapeutic modalities, soft tissue mobilization, physical reconditioning, and supportive taping procedures to promote an environment conducive to optimal healing while preparing the individual for safe reintegration into an active lifestyle and sports. He or she will coordinate emergency care coverage for all home games and tournaments, as well as away games as deemed necessary by the Director of Athletics. The therapist will cover the majority of the home games and major events for all teams (BCS invitational tournaments, CAIS, etc.), and hire temporary staff for additional coverage as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • • Pre-season concussion testing for all contact sports and all senior teams, as well as ongoing concussion management with BCS Health Services
  • • Risk Management Planning-Establish and communicate emergency protocols for athletics facilities and athletics trips, ensure proper health insurance for all athletics trips, and prepare emergency kits for all games and athletics trips
  • • Recording and documenting all injuries sustained and treatments performed
  • • Hiring and payment processing for assistant therapists in conjunction with the Athletic Director
  • • Ordering of supplies
  • • Liaising with community health care providers and BCS Health Services as necessary, coordinate advanced care or alternative care with medical professionals
  • • Willing to travel and work a variety of hours on weekends and evenings

Education, Experience and Skills

  • • Member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA)
  • • Current First Aid, Sports First Responder, AED and CPR Certifications

Experience

  • • Two years prior experience working in a sports injury clinic
  • • Two years prior experience as an athletic therapist with contact sports such as football, rugby, and hockey
